Four M Health Fairview outpatient surgery centers earn “America’s Best” honors from Newsweek

Looking for high-quality outpatient surgical care? Look no further than M Health Fairview.

Four M Health Fairview surgery centers across the Twin Cities have once again earned accolades from Newsweek for delivering some of the nation’s best care. All were recognized in the magazine’s 2024 list of America’s Best Ambulatory Surgery Centers.

Released last week, this year’s list recognized 550 outpatient surgery centers across 25 states out of more than 5,000 surgery centers nationwide that were evaluated. These centers serve patients who need a common or minor surgical procedure but don’t need an inpatient overnight stay in a hospital – they can return home quickly, often on the same day as their operation.

This year’s list included four M Health Fairview locations in Minnesota. Our locations and their statewide rankings are:

Our Maplewood and Burnsville locations are jointly owned and managed in partnership with Surgical Care Affiliates (SCA) . Our Minneapolis location is operated in partnership with University of Minnesota Physicians. Newsweek’s annual list is based on quality scores from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and peer surveys sent to medical professionals working in ambulatory surgery centers across the nation.

“This recognition reflects the expertise around surgical excellence and patient-centered focus of the surgeons, nurses, advanced practice providers and many others who provide care or contribute to the patient experience at our surgery centers,” said Abe Jacob, MD, MHA, chief quality officer for M Health Fairview and an associate professor with University of Minnesota Medical School. “Their commitment to excellence and compassion for every patient coming through our doors is the reason our facilities have been honored three years running.”

Because outpatient surgery centers don’t involve hospital admission, they are often more convenient, timesaving, and less expensive than hospital-based care. M Health Fairview’s specialty clinic and surgery centers bring dozens of clinics and medical specialties together under one roof so that patients can visit multiple specialists in a single day if needed.

Patient surveys show that the number one reason why patients would recommend our site is because of our customer service,” said Patti Soll, director of surgical services at M Health Fairview Clinics and Surgery Center - Maple Grove, which was top-ranked in Minnesota. “Our surgery center is one of very few in Minnesota that have full Joint Commission Accreditation and also have designation from Association of Operating Room Nurses (AORN) as the majority of our nurses are AORN-certified. It is our purpose and resolve to connect with every person as an individual and to provide safe and quality care.”
