Leading with purpose: Fairview’s commitment to Minnesota communities in 2024

In 2024, Fairview, a nonprofit healthcare system, invested $1.4 billion through innovative programs addressing health disparities, community benefit and support, uncompensated care, and discounts for uninsured patients.

This information and more is captured in our 2024 Community Impact Report, highlighting a year of transformative investment and leadership in community health. This report is one of the ways our health system demonstrates transparency and our continued commitment to the health and wellbeing of individuals throughout Minnesota.

As an anchor institution rooted in our communities, Fairview recognizes the positive impact we can make in the lives of our patients, staff, and neighbors when we work in collaboration with local organizations to provide equitable care and address the social determinants of health,” said John Swanholm, vice president of Community Advancement at Fairview. “That’s why Fairview invests in our community through clinical care services, health-related programs, services, and advocacy both inside and outside of our walls.”

In our hospitals and clinics

Fairview serves millions of patients each year, delivering outstanding, compassionate care and support to patients and their families.

Our commitment extends beyond clinical care:

  • Providing financial assistance and discounts for those in need.

  • Serving as a social safety net for minors and vulnerable adults.

  • Advancing research, education, and workforce development.

It also shows up in tangible ways:

Every initiative reflects our mission to make health happen for those we serve.

Beyond our walls

Fairview collaborates with local organizations, nonprofits, and government agencies to address the community-identified needs of our neighbors and to advocate for health equity.

Key efforts include:

  • Programs that improve access to care and reduce racial and other health disparities.

  • Free community health programs ensuring food security, safe housing, and resource connections.

As Fairview looks to the future, our vision centers on reducing health disparities by addressing root causes, empowering community voices, and transforming systems for a more equitable future.
