M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital once again named a top hospital in the Twin Cities for heart care

For Twin Cities residents, expert cardiovascular care is available close to home. This year, Healthgrades named M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital one of the best hospitals in the nation for coronary intervention. For its expertise in heart care, Southdale was also named the best hospital in the Twin Cities and one of the best in the nation for cardiac care in 2023.

“This is a recognition of the investment M Health Fairview Southdale has made in specialty cardiac care in our 60-year legacy of leadership together with the University of Minnesota,” said Bryan Gaffy, vice president of hospital operations at Southdale Hospital. “It's a testament to the entire team that is dedicated to providing exceptional care.”

The coronary intervention excellence award recognizes hospitals that deliver superior clinical outcomes in procedures including angioplasty with stent. The best cardiac care recognition is given to hospitals with superior clinical outcomes in heart bypass surgery, coronary intervention procedures, heart valve surgery, and heart attack and heart failure treatment.

Southdale isn’t the only hospital in our health system to be recognized this year by Healthgrades. M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center also received accolades. It’s in the top 10% of hospitals nationwide for excellence in cardiac surgery. M Health Fairview Ridges Hospital joined Southdale in receiving recognition for excellence in patient safety, and several other locations, including St. John’s Hospital and Ridges Hospital, were honored in various areas by Healthgrades.
