More than 120 M Health Fairview doctors honored as Rising Stars in 2025

123 M Health Fairview doctors across 34 different specialties were recognized as Top Doctors: Rising Stars for 2025 by Mpls.St.Paul Magazine. That’s more than any other health system.

The magazine defines Rising Stars as doctors who are in the first 10 years of their careers.

“Doctors early in their careers entered medicine at a challenging time,” said Jaya Kumar, MD, MBA, an internist and nephrologist and chief medical officer with Fairview Health Services. “Many of them weathered the uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic and the quick changes to medicine that came after. These 125 providers still provide compassionate, exceptional patient care. I’m delighted to see them recognized for it.”

Honorees are selected through a rigorous process that starts by asking doctors to nominate other doctors who they would trust with their own – or a family member’s – care. From there, the top doctors are evaluated on peer recognition, professional achievement, and disciplinary history. Then they’re invited to participate in a panel evaluation with other nominated physicians in the same category.

“As University physicians, one of our most critical responsibilities is training the next generation of doctors to care for Minnesota,” said Bevan Yueh, MD, MPH, CEO of University of Minnesota Physicians and Vice Dean for Clinical Affairs at the U of M Medical School. “These Rising Stars are leaders in their disciplines, bringing research discoveries directly to patients and preparing their trainees to do the same.”

The list includes physicians who treat adults, as well as M Health Fairview Pediatrics doctors who care for children.
