Mpls.St.Paul Magazine names more than 130 of our early-career doctors “Rising Stars” in 2024

For the last 10 years, Mpls.St.Paul Magazine has recognized doctors who are “Rising Stars” in medicine. This year, 132 doctors in the M Health Fairview system join the ranks of those who are making a name for themselves in the first decade of their careers. This is more than any other health system in the region.

“We know our physicians are special,” said Fairview Chief Medical Officer Mark Welton, MD, MHCM. “They bring medical expertise and a passion for people to work with them every day. It’s wonderful to see these exceptional physicians recognized for distinguishing themselves early in their careers.”

The magazine uses a rigorous selection process that starts by asking doctors to nominate other physicians that they would trust with their own – or a family member’s care. From there, the doctors are evaluated on peer recognition, professional achievement, and disciplinary history. Then they’re invited to participate in a panel evaluation with other nominated physicians in the same category.

“The physicians honored this year represent a future of medicine in Minnesota that is marked first and foremost by compassion,” said Bevan Yueh, MD, MPH, CEO of University of Minnesota Physicians. “In addition to these individuals' deep talent and care for others, they also lead research that will become the future treatments for difficult conditions while carefully training the next generation of Minnesota’s doctors.”
