Nearly 100 University of Minnesota Health doctors honored as 2019 "Rising Stars" by Mpls.St.Paul Magazine

Nearly 100 University of Minnesota Health physicians have been honored as “Rising Stars” this year by Mpls.St.Paul Magazine.

The magazine released its 2019 “Rising Stars” list last week. This year, the list includes 93 University of Minnesota Health and University of Minnesota Physicians doctors across more than 30 specialties. 

The list highlights exceptional physicians who've been practicing in their specialty for 10 years or less. Each physician was nominated by his or her peers and evaluated on a variety of factors, including professional achievement, review by an expert physician panel and individual disciplinary history.

“Congratulations to each of our physicians who have received the Rising Star award,” said Badrinath Konety, MD, MBA, CEO of University of Minnesota Physicians. “This recognition is a tribute to these talented physicians, our entire system, and the great care our people provide every single day to our patients.”

The list also includes 95 providers from Fairview, HealthEast, and independent clinics that are part of our larger provider network. Together with the UMP honorees, our joint healthcare system accounts for 188 of the physicians on the list—or nearly half of the magazine’s total awardees.

“We’re very proud of these physicians and this honor they have earned,” said Mark Welton, MD, Chief Medical Officer for Fairview Health Services. “Their talent, compassion and commitment are very important to our collective work of delivering upon our mission for our patients and becoming one of the top 10 health care systems in the country.”
