New private patient rooms open with state-of-the-art monitoring equipment, river views
Two new units of single-occupancy patient rooms opened last month at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center – West Bank. These new units each contain 24 rooms and were constructed in the place of former faculty offices on the north side of the building with sweeping views of the Mississippi River.
This new construction project is part of a larger transformation within our health system to improve patient experience and meet evolving healthcare needs. The rooms are available for medical/surgical use, which provides support for patients before and after surgery, as well as for a variety of other medical conditions.
The new rooms are also equipped for telemetry and expand our capacity to care for patients needing cardiac monitoring. With telemetry care, vital signs and other pertinent information can be continuously transmitted to a central location on the unit, helping our nurses monitor and care for patients.
“Our new units are equipped with state-of-the-art monitoring systems, and were designed with staff workflow in mind,” said Andi Olson, MSN, RN, director of nursing at the medical center. “Equipment and materials are conveniently placed and connected for easy, efficient access and better patient care.”
All rooms are also equipped with private bathrooms, including roll-in showers, and each floor has a guest lounge for visitors as a secondary space to the patient’s room.
