Time to cape up for Superhero Day 2021
On March 25, M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital care teams, staff members, and families alike all dress up as superheroes to honor our hospital’s true champions: our patients. Superhero Day is a fun, fantastic way to celebrate the children who are at the center of the care we provide.
Being hospitalized – whether for a short time or over the long term – can be a tough experience. Each day, we’re awed by our patients’ bravery, strength, and determination. We’re humbled by their capacity for joy and fun, even in the midst of treatment and recovery.
To our super patients, we salute you! We hope that Superhero Day is as special for you as you are to us. To celebrate this year’s Superhero Day, we asked some of our children’s hospital staff members to share what Superhero Day means to them and why it is such an important moment for patients, families, and the community at Masonic Children’s Hospital.
For me, Superhero Day is exactly why so many of us practice pediatric medicine – it is the perfect blend of recognizing how special our patients and their families are and doing it in a way that is major fun for everyone involved! The M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital community always puts kids first. This includes our patient care, our research, and our educational efforts. And the one thing that all kids love and excel at is having fun! Superhero Day is so important because it takes this critically important value and combines a message of love, hope, and gratitude all into one day of fun and endless smiles.

I’m so lucky to be surrounded by superheroes every single day. Our patients, families and the staff here have always shown such strength and resilience. As we know, this past year has had its challenges but that strength and resilience has never ceased. Superhero Day gives us a chance to stop and celebrate our inner superhero. This will be my third Superhero Day and every year it has looked different but the meaning behind it has stayed the same.
