Two M Health Fairview hospitals named among best in Minnesota in 2022

M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital and M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center were ranked among the top 10 hospitals in Minnesota, and among the top five hospitals in the Twin Cities, according to the U.S. News & World Report 2022-23 “Best Hospitals” list.

Cancer Care at M Health Fairview University of Minnesota Medical Center was also recognized nationally, ranked 45th in the nation this year. M Health Fairview has a longstanding partnership with Masonic Cancer Center, the only National Cancer Institute-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center in the metro and one of only two such research centers in the state.

"Our recognition by both the National Cancer Institute and U.S. News & World Report demonstrates our rigorous standards for multidisciplinary, state-of-the-art care,” said Hematologist/Oncologist Ed Greeno, MD, executive medical director for M Health Fairview Cancer Care. “We are focused on developing and providing new and better approaches to preventing, diagnosing, and treating cancer.”

U.S. News & World Report evaluated the performance of more than 4,500 hospitals nationwide across 15 medical specialties and 20 specific procedures or conditions. “Best Hospital” rankings are based on objective measurements including patient satisfaction scores, hospital volume, quality of nursing, and risk-adjusted survival and discharge-to-home rates.

The annual national rankings were first published in 1990 and are designed to help patients and their doctors make informed decisions about where to receive care for challenging health conditions or for common elective procedures.

Several other of our hospitals were also recognized for their high performance this year, demonstrating our commitment to bring world-class care to all Minnesotans.

“We’re committed to differentiating ourselves in terms of clinical care, life-saving research, and – most importantly – patient outcomes,” said Chief Quality Officer Abe Jacob, MD, MHA. “We’re grateful to our care teams who work together to provide this exceptional patient care.”
