Two M Health Fairview hospitals ranked among ‘America’s Best’ for maternity care

Newsweek Magazine recently named M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital and M Health Fairview Woodwinds Hospital to its 2022 list of America’s Best Maternity Hospitals, in recognition of our commitment to world-class maternity care.
The list recognizes hospitals that excel in prenatal, delivery, and postpartum care for both parent and child. Eight Minnesota hospitals were recognized, and M Health Fairview tied for the highest number of ranked locations in the state.
Newsweek Magazine evaluates hospitals based on three sources:
- A national survey of hospital managers and maternity healthcare professionals
- Key performance indicators related to maternity care
- Patient satisfaction data
In the survey, 10,000 healthcare professionals were asked to recommend leading maternity hospitals. Newsweek Magazine evaluated thousands of hospitals nationwide as part of this year’s evaluation, with 350 hospitals making the final list.
“This achievement reflects our commitment to world-class, family-centered care for the diverse range of needs experienced during pregnancy and childbirth,” said Obstetrician/Gynecologist Laura France, MD, who serves as medical director of our community Birthplaces – including the Birthplace at Southdale and Woodwinds hospitals.
“We deliver thousands of babies every year, but we know that each pregnancy is unique,” she added. “We’re here to offer a wide range of supports and tailored care.”
Our health system has nine birth centers across Minnesota with a variety of amenities, birthing techniques, and access to maternal-fetal medicine and neonatal care if you need the highest level of support.
