U.S. News & World Report recognizes high performance at University of Minnesota Medical Center
University of Minnesota Medical Center’s cancer care program is among the top 50 in the nation, and two additional hospital specialties have been designated as “high performing,” according to U.S. News & World Report’s 2019-2020 “Best Hospital” rankings.
To develop the rankings, which were released this week, U.S. News evaluated more than 4,500 medical centers nationwide in 25 specialties, procedures and conditions. The rankings are largely based on objective, care-related measures, including risk-adjusted survival and discharge-to-home rates, hospital volume, and quality of nursing.
Our cancer care program ranked 50th nationwide this year. In addition, University of Minnesota Medical Center was recognized as high performing in Orthopedics and Pulmonology & Lung Surgery. Finally, the hospital was also identified as high performing in the following procedures and conditions: colon cancer surgery, heart failure, and hip replacement.
Several hospitals within the M Health Fairview care system were also recognized in the rankings. See below for a summary, or view the full hospital rankings here. [INSERT LINK]
