Overview

Your esophagus is the tube that carries food from your throat to your stomach. Esophageal cancer can develop in any part of the esophagus, spreading to your lymph nodes, and nearby organs.

Our approach

Providers with M Health Fairview Cancer Care deliver leading-edge technology and compassionate care to treat the complex medical needs of patients with esophageal cancer. Therapies we offer include chemotherapy, radiation therapy and/or advanced surgical options like endoscopic mucosal resection, radiofrequency ablation, or photodynamic therapy and minimally invasive esophagectomy (or esophagus removal).

We treat more than 1,000 patients every year in our thoracic oncology program. Many of our physicians are also active in research, leading clinical studies on lung cancer, esophageal cancer, and thoracic cancer in collaboration with researchers at Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota.
