M Health Fairview Cancer Care offers you multidisciplinary care for melanoma. We specialize in unique therapies and treatments, including phototherapy, photopheresis, and Mohs micrographic surgery. Mohs surgery is an outpatient procedure to treat aggressive cancer, and cancer in cosmetically sensitive areas, such as the face and around the eyes. With the Mohs procedure, your doctor will remove the skin growth layer by layer, examining each layer under the microscope for abnormal cells. This procedure eliminates cancerous cells without removing much of the surrounding healthy skin.

Advanced melanoma care
We are dedicated to finding new therapies to treat melanoma through research and our partnership with Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota, a National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center. If you need advanced care in the treatment of metastatic melanoma (melanoma that has spread to other parts of the body), we now offer isolated limb perfusion chemotherapy, chemoembolization, radioembolization, high-dose interleukin-2 therapy, as well as leading-edge surgical options.

Pigmented lesions program
Our dermatologists check for any concerning skin lesions and develop a care plan for future monitoring. Depending on risk factors, this could involve follow-up skin examinations, mole mapping (total body photography), and sequential digital dermoscopy.

This program is for:

• Patients with melanoma
• Patients with a strong family history of melanoma
• Patients with numerous atypical moles, with or without a family history of atypical moles (Familial Atypical Moles/Melanoma Syndrome)
• Patients with an identified gene mutation associated with an increased risk of melanoma
