Providers can employ a number of different assets: including traditional pharmacological intervention, world class imaging, stem cell infusions, and holistic care.

Recent research, including ongoing studies at the University of Minnesota, has opened novel monitoring and treatment opportunities for MS patients. Access to 10.5 and 7.0T fMRI offers M Health Fairview clinicians the most up-to-date imaging facilities to track the progression of the disease and quickly identify developing abnormalities. Further, developments relating to stem cell infusions, the transplantation of hematopoietic stem cells, can significantly improve disease outcomes and prolong the remission state.

In addition to these interventions, all patients receive a unique comprehensive annual visit to evaluate memory, mobility, vision, fatigue, and depression among others. This CARE (Comprehensive Annual Reference Exam) visit gathers explicit quantitative data measuring subtle changes in a patient’s neurologic condition and identifies strategies and resources to support their holistic well-being. The CARE visit involves analytics normally reserved for clinical research trials to determine how the severity of an individual’s condition is progressing over time. This assists MS clinicians to develop, engage, and direct a patient’s care team.
