What to do if you think you have COVID-19

Most people with COVID-19 experience a mild illness and will recover at home, and our care team can guide you online or by phone. Learn more about COVID-19 symptoms. If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please go to, our 24/7 virtual clinic, where our care team will evaluate your symptoms and provide a care plan.

Follow the care instructions you receive from our team. Currently, M Health Fairview is testing all people showing symptoms for COVID-19. If you meet symptom criteria, you will be directed to one of our drive-up testing locations across the Twin Cities. M Health Fairview is working quickly to ramp up testing for people who are not displaying COVID-19 symptoms, but national lab supply shortages require us to continue prioritizing testing for certain groups.

If you test positive, our care team will provide you with instructions and a care plan. Plan to self-quarantine until all of the following have occurred:

  • At least 10 days have passed since the onset of your symptoms
  • Your fever has subsided for at least one full day (24 hours) without the use of fever-reducing medications
  • Other symptoms have improved or ended

Outside of an emergency, please do not visit a clinic or hospital without calling ahead. This avoids spreading COVID-19 to others.
