Overview
Orthotic and prosthetic (O&P) patient care helps improve movement and function in individuals with musculoskeletal and neurological impairments, bettering their quality of life. O&P practitioners are an integral part of the health care and rehabilitation team. Orthotists and prosthetists evaluate patients and design custom or off-the-shelf orthoses (braces) or prostheses (artificial limbs). Once created and fitted, these devices support the body and assist with physical activities such as walking, running, grasping, and balancing.
Our team of practitioners works closely with you, your family, and your medical providers to design, fabricate and fit orthotic and prosthetic solutions to help you return to your existing lifestyle and participate in activities that are important to you.
M Health Fairview provides easy access to expert Orthotics and Prosthetics care close to home.

Frequently Asked Questions
We work out of two different systems, and they do not transfer information between them.
No. Our practitioners are licensed by the state of Minnesota and certified by the American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics.
You do not need a doctor’s prescription to be evaluated, but you will need a prescription in order to receive any orthotic or prosthetic device.
No. It is very important that the fit of your custom foot orthotics is verified by a certified orthotist. The orthotist will check the fit of your orthotics and make any adjustments if needed. They will also trim and finish them to fit your shoes appropriately.
Because most of our devices are custom made to meet each patient’s needs, they will take 2-3 weeks to fabricate and fit upon approval from your insurance company. Special order devices may take longer. Your orthotist or prosthetist will provide you with an estimated timeline for your specific device.
Most orthotic or prosthetic devices can be adjusted or modified to remedy the problems you are having. The products we create are most often custom made or custom fit to each patient and are rarely returnable or reusable. However, if you are unhappy with something we provided, we will work directly with you to find a solution that will work the best for your situation, so don’t hesitate to call us.
There is no charge for evaluation, consultation, or follow-up appointments with your Orthotist or Prosthetist. We charge only for the orthotic or prosthetic device on the date that they are fit.
This depends on your insurance plan, the orthotic or prosthetic device you need as well as the diagnosis from your doctor. M Health Fairview Orthotics and Prosthetics accepts most insurance plans and are approved providers for Medicaid, Medicare, and most private insurers. Each insurance provider is unique, and you may have a deductible, copay or percentage of the total cost that you will be responsible for paying. Please be aware that Insurance coverage or prior authorization is not a guarantee of full payment.
