If you're helping manage someone else's healthcare - like a child, spouse, parent, or someone you support as a caregiver - you may be able to view their medical records through something called proxy access. This lets you securely access their health information online, including appointments, test results, and messages with their care team. Learn more here.
From the MyChart Login Page, click “Forgot password?” and follow the prompts to reset your password. You may also call MyChart Support at 1-855-513-5513 to request a password reset.
On July 11, 2021, we moved the HealthEast electronic health record into the M Health Fairview electronic health record, which included MyChart. Please use your M Health Fairview MyChart account for full access. If you have questions or need assistance, call MyChart Support at 1-855-513-5513.
There are a number of ways to sign-up for a MyChart account:
Yes, MyChart is secure and provides encrypted communication in full compliance with State and Federal requirements. Access to information is controlled through secure activation codes, personal usernames, and passwords. Each person controls their password, and the account must be accessed using that password. On mobile, the account may also be accessed using face ID or fingerprint login. Unlike conventional Email, all MyChart messaging is done while you are securely logged in to our website or mobile app.
You can ensure that your account stays secure even if someone else has your username or password by turning on two-step verification. When this feature is turned on, you must enter a code that is sent to you by Email or Text message to log in to MyChart, in addition to using your username and password. For more information, click here or check out our helpful video on two-step verification
PayZen is our partner for longer-term, flexible payment plans. It allows longer terms for loans and in many cases, smaller payments. If you have a balance over $1,000 and need a payment plan over the course of 24-60 months, with no interest or fees, PayZen is a good option.
You can use your mobile device or computer to check-in online before your visit. To learn how, follow the steps here.
There is no cost to set up a MyChart account, however, some features like MyChart eVisits may require copayments with your insurance company. Check with your insurance company to verify coverage for eVisits or other types of healthcare services.
You must be an established patient with M Health Fairview to use our eVisits service. To schedule a primary care eVisit, you must have had an appointment with an M Health Fairview primary care provider within the last three years. For specialty care eVisits, like obstetrics or cardiology, you must have seen an M Health Fairview specialist within that specialty in the last year. You must also be in the state of Minnesota at the time of your eVisit.
The eVisit will be completed by an M Health Fairview provider. Most conditions we treat are for those up to age 75, but we evaluate all ages for COVID-19.
Not all patients and not all conditions are appropriate for online care. If you start an eVisit and we feel at any time we cannot safely provide care online, we’ll offer advice on how to get the right kind of care. If you are redirected, we will not charge for the visit.
If you already have a MyChart account for your child and proxy access to their account, you can continue through the steps above. If you do not have access to your child’s MyChart account or if you are new:
You do not need proxy access to your child's MyChart account to complete a virtual urgent care visit. Click here to schedule a virtual urgent care visit.
You will have an opportunity enter your insurance information at the beginning of the eVisit, and we will bill your insurance after the session. Please note: The end of the federal COVID-19 Public Health Emergency on May 11, 2023, may affect whether your insurance covers telehealth appointments like eVisits. If you have questions about coverage, we recommend checking with your insurance provider before scheduling your eVisit. You will be responsible for the full cost if your insurance does not cover eVisits. You may also be responsible for a copayment, depending on your coverage.
If you are uninsured or do want to use insurance to cover the eVisit cost, you are welcome to pay for your eVisit out of pocket. You may use a credit card, debit card, or Health Savings Account (HSA) and Flexible Savings Account (FSA) cards.
Each visit is between $52-$167, about the same cost as a co-pay for urgent care. We can bill your insurance, so that may lower your out of pocket cost. Even if you have insurance coverage, your health plan may not pay for part or all of your eVisits. You are responsible for what is not paid for by your insurance, any prescriptions, over-the-counter treatments and any follow-up visits you may need.
Remember, if we can’t safely treat you online, there’s no charge.
An eVisit is a way to get care for certain conditions without needing to schedule an appointment or come in to the clinic. We’ll ask you some questions about yourself and your symptoms, and a member of our eVisit team will respond with a care plan or recommendations for what to do next. An eVisit should be used only for non-urgent medical conditions, as it may take up to 1 business day to receive a response. If you need urgent medical care, please contact your clinic by phone or find a nearby urgent care center. For medical emergencies, call 911 immediately.
You may be asked to enter your credit card information before your eVisit is submitted. If the eVisit is cancelled, your payment will be refunded. If you are redirected to the clinic, you also may not be charged. The cost of an eVisit can be from $52 to $167, depending on the amount of time required by the provider to determine treatment. Most private insurance companies cover eVisits. Insurance coverage may reduce your out-of-pocket costs. If you have government insurance, please check with your insurance company for your specific benefit coverage for this service.
M Health Fairview offers a range of choices, from virtual appointments or urgent care visits to emergency departments or our nurse triage line. Click here to find out which service may be right for you.
Our MyChart eVisit will lead you through an interactive interview, created by doctors from M Health Fairview. Just like in the doctor’s office, the questions will vary depending on your symptoms. After you hit submit, a doctor, physician assistant or nurse practitioner will review your symptoms and medical information, then develops a treatment plan unique to you. Patients always receive the most appropriate, evidence-based care. For certain conditions, a provider may need a little more information to make a diagnosis and may ask you to upload a photo, or talk by phone.

For video and phone visits, you can choose to see your own provider, but if they’re not available when you want to be seen, you may be offered options to see another provider from your clinic in your desired timeframe. For MyChart eVisits, you select either a provider with whom you want to interact (this is usually a provider you have seen previously), or “next available” provider for a quicker response.
Video visits are billed the same as a normal in-clinic visit.*
Phone visits are currently billed as a normal in-clinic visit, due to temporary billing practices during the COVID-19 pandemic.*
MyChart eVisits are currently billed between $45 - $167 per visit depending on provider time spent on visit.*
eConsults are covered by most insurance plans with varying patient responsibility costs.*
* What you will be charged depends on your insurance coverage, including whether you have a co-pay or have met any deductibles.
Video Visit
A video visit is a convenient way to see your provider from the comfort of home, completed securely through a mobile device or computer. Similar to an in-person visit in length. The provider and you can see each other, and the clinician lets you know the care plan during the visit. Differences include that vitals are not taken and there is limited opportunity for a physical examination. Video visits can be held for many conditions. If it is determined that a test is needed, you will be referred to a location that can administer it either prior to or following the video visit with the provider.
Phone Visit
Phone visits can be held for many conditions, especially when a physical exam is not necessary (e.g. mental health, medication checks, etc.). Similar to an in-person visit in length. The provider will let you know the care plan during the visit. Differences include that there is no physical examination and vitals are not taken. If it is determined that a test is needed, you will be referred to a location that can administer it either prior to or following the phone visit.
MyChart eVisit
MyChart eVisits are the fastest way to be seen by our care team without needing to schedule an appointment or come to the clinic. Get diagnosed and treated 24/7 for dozens of conditions, including COVID-19. When completing your eVisit, choose the “Next available provider” option for the fastest response time. eVisits are only available to established patients that have seen an M Health Fairview provider in the past three years. For specialty eVisits, such as Cancer Care and Obstetrics, you must have seen a provider within that specialty in the last year.
You will answer a series of questions online with a provider about a particular condition. Responses are reviewed by a provider who you select. You can choose a provider you have previously seen (with a 24 hour response except weekends) or choose “First Available” provider for a quicker response. You will receive a clinical diagnosis or recommendation for next steps in care.
eConsult
eConsults are a way for your primary care provider to connect with a M Health Fairview specialty provider on your behalf, and are available at your request. This option often provides quicker access to specialty review and response (days compared to weeks or months) while also saving you time from an in-person appointment. Your primary care provider will connect with you on any recommendations and next steps from the specialty provider.
If, during any type of virtual visit, it is determined that you need to come into the clinic to have your health concern addressed, we will schedule an in-person visit, and you will NOT be billed for the virtual visit.
Just like an in-office visit, the provider can send prescriptions to the pharmacy of your choice, order lab tests, or recommend follow-up appointments after a video, phone or eVisit. Someone will help schedule any required follow-up care at the end of the virtual visit or through a phone call afterward.
Video visits are conducted using secure, HIPAAcompliant video connections which are not recorded by M Health Fairview. Unauthorized recording is not allowed. If the visit is on the phone, your conversation is as secure as any phone call. If using MyChart to complete your visit, including registration (eCheck-in) or answering questions online, it is completed using a secure patient portal. The provider and nurse may be in a private space such as an exam room or office, where there will be complete privacy. They may also be in a clinic setting where other clinic staff members are visible in the background. In this situation, your provider and nurse will generally use headphones so others cannot hear you.
If you use MyChart, you will be able to check-in for your appointment via MyChart up to 7 days prior to your appointment. During this process, you will be asked to verify your information and you may be asked to answer some questions about your health. Based on your MyChart communication preferences, you may be contacted via email, text, or MyChart message with an appointment reminder and a prompt to check in for your appointment as well.
Depending on the type of appointment and your provider, you may also receive a call up to 24 hours prior to your appointment to verify your information and answer some questions about your health if you did not complete the MyChart check-in process.
