Indication for VA ECMO

• Inability to wean from cardiopulmonary bypass
• Cardiogenic shock/Acute MI
• Cardiac Arrest
• Acute Rejection
• Bridge to LVAD/Transplant
• Sepsis/Toxicity
• Arrhythmias
• Cardiomyopathy/Myocarditis
• Procedural Support with preplanned end point

General Contraindications

• Prolonged resuscitation
• Irreversible injury/disease process without potential for recovery
• Malignancies
• Major immunosuppression
• Irrecoverable other end-organ failure and/or not a candidate for transplant
