At M Health Fairview, patients receive concussion care from a multi-specialty team. Our medical specialists are from disciplines that include trauma, otolaryngology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, emergency medicine, and neurology. We work together with physical, occupational and speech therapists to help patients through the concussion treatment and recovery process.

As part of our concussion evaluation and management, providers review symptoms and conduct a neurological exam. They check balance, reflexes, coordination, vision, hearing, strength, memory and ability to concentrate. Providers can then assess the severity of symptoms and recommend whether the patient can be monitored at home or if hospitalization is needed.

We then work with patients to create a treatment program individualized to each injury and specific symptoms, and we seek input from therapists and other team members to help speed recovery.
