Overview

Good nutrition nurtures our body, mind, and spirit. This is true for all children and adolescents who are growing and developing, but it’s especially important for those with health conditions or illnesses. When nutritional support is included in their treatment plan, it can support a child’s recovery and strengthen their immune system.

If your infant, child, or teen could benefit from nutritional counseling and support, we offer services in both hospital and clinic settings. Specializing in the unique needs of kids, our pediatric registered dietitians are here to support you and ensure your child or adolescent is well-nourished.

Our approach

Our nutrition services team includes over 20 registered dietitians with special training and a wealth of experience treating kids of all ages. Some of our clinicians hold professional distinctions, such as board certification as a Specialist in Pediatric Nutrition or Certified Nutrition Support Clinician. Many members of our team are experienced and certified in prescribing intravenous (IV) nutrition to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents.

We offer inpatient nutrition services at M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital and outpatient services at clinics across the Twin Cities Metro area. Our dietitians treat a wide range of health conditions, including malnutrition, feeding difficulties, autism, weight issues, food intolerances, allergies, and side effects of medication. No matter what your health concerns are, we provide nutritional support for any infant, child, or adolescent who needs help preventing malnutrition, promoting appropriate physical growth and development, and maintaining a strong immune system.

We take a highly individualized approach to care for your child, and tailor treatment to their nutritional needs, medical history, and health goals. First, we start with an assessment of your child’s current diet and talk with you about any concerns you might have about their nutrition and eating habits. Then, we’ll create an appropriate support plan that can help them reach their goals. Over the course of treatment, we’ll follow up to monitor their health and make any necessary changes to ensure a positive outcome.

At M Health Fairview Pediatrics, we consider your family a part of our care team. As trusted health partners, we collaborate with parents and kids to ensure treatment plans are feasible for your family and lifestyle. With the right nutritional support, your child or adolescent’s body and mind will be ready to focus on healing and recovery.
