A certified nurse-midwife is a registered nurse who has a Master of Science or Doctoral degree in midwifery and holds a national certification from the American College of Nurse-Midwives.

Certified Nurse Midwives with M Health Fairview assist patients through the challenges and joys of pregnancy and birth, as well as offering comprehensive gynecology care to people of all ages, including care related to menstrual cycles, contraception counseling and prescription, well person exams, cervical cancer and breast cancer screening, and menopause care. The care team offers the full spectrum of services – including health and wellness – designed to meet health needs for each stage of life. We have been partnering with patients in Minnesota for years and are integral in helping define the standard of care today and tomorrow.

Preferring to minimize technological interventions, our team stresses the importance of prenatal education, counseling, and continuous hands-on care during labor, birth and postpartum care.

In addition to offering labor support, our certified nurse-midwives are qualified to order pain medication and perform medical procedures.

Our team has an exceptional collaborative care model with our OB/GYN partners, built on evidence, trust, and communication and at the University of Minnesota Medical Center there is always an OB/GYN and NICU team in the hospital at all times.
