A trip to the emergency room is not something you plan for, but it’s reassuring to know it’s there when you need it, especially if you have children or adolescents. When you bring your child to a hospital dedicated to caring for kids, you can trust that the physicians and staff are experts in pediatric emergency medicine and understand the unique needs of children in an emergency setting.
Our Children’s Hospital Emergency Department
At M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital, our emergency physicians are experienced in evaluating, stabilizing, and treating children with any type of trauma injury or emergency medical need. Our physicians provide post-surgical critical care and other treatments, including life support.
Our emergency department is located in a state-of-the-art facility inside the hospital, which includes two trauma/resuscitation rooms. It’s near important services your child may need, like Radiology, the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, (NICU), and Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU). We also offer more than 60 pediatric specialties if your child needs specialized care.
Our dedicated pediatric emergency department is designed with kids in mind. Patient rooms in the pediatric emergency department have a hospital bed, a bench for family members, and a television. Our team also has an array of movies, toys, and snacks to keep children entertained while they wait.
Our facility, coupled with the specialized care provided by our pediatric nurses, physicians, providers, and support staff can help ease the stress of a trip to the emergency department. When it’s time for treatment, our care team – which includes certified Child-Family Life specialists who can address your child’s emotional needs – work together seamlessly to provide care.
