Overview
If your child is dealing with symptoms of a urinary system disorder, like bedwetting, pain while urinating, or incontinence, we’re here to provide help and hope. Our team of pediatric urology experts has been providing diagnosis and treatment of urinary conditions affecting kids and teens for over 90 years.
Our board-certified pediatric urologists work closely with experts in other specialties, including pediatric nephrology, surgery, transplant surgery, endocrinology, interventional radiology, psychology, nutrition, child family life, and social work, to provide whole-child, multidisciplinary care for our patients. Our experienced pediatric urologists and clinical staff can handle routine issues all the way up to complex medical conditions that may require surgery. Throughout it all, we take a sensitive, compassionate approach that puts your child – and their unique needs, dreams, and goals – first.
Our pediatric urology program is anchored by M Health Fairview Masonic Children’s Hospital, a nationally recognized children’s hospital located on a leading academic hospital campus in Minneapolis. Our partnership with the University of Minnesota means your child has access to the latest innovations in care for pediatric urological diseases and conditions, including new treatments and techniques not available anywhere else. Whatever intervention your child needs, we’re here by your side, every step of the way.
Our approach
Here, we combine comprehensive care, advanced medical minds, and caring hearts in a team approach with your child and your family at its center. Our urology experts stand ready to work collaboratively with each other and your family to ensure the best experience, outcomes, and overall well-being – giving your child the brightest possible future.
Our pediatric urology team has expertise in a broad range of urologic health concerns, from the most common conditions, like bedwetting and urinary tract infections, to more serious and complex issues, including congenital malformations. Urinary system conditions can arise in infants and older children, and our physicians even provide in-utero treatment for babies before they are born.
Our urology team has special expertise in a wide array of genitourinary disorders, including hypospadias, urinary obstruction, urinary reflux, renal stone disease, and voiding/bladder dysfunction. The team also partners with the only multidisciplinary center in the region that provides comprehensive care for children with disorders of sexual differentiation.
If your child’s treatment plan includes surgery, it’s good to know that the pediatric urology physicians at M Health Fairview Pediatrics are leaders in minimally invasive (laparoscopic and endoscopic) surgery. As the first in the Upper Midwest to perform robotic-assisted laparoscopic urologic surgery on a child, this team has the most experience using these minimally invasive techniques. This technology enables us to perform major urologic surgeries through tiny incisions, which can result in faster recovery with less scarring.
As part of our kidney stone program, our multidisciplinary care team includes urologists, nephrologists, nutritionists, and other specialists working with your child and family to prevent future stone formation.
We have world-class expertise in evaluating and managing dysfunctional or damaged areas of the genitourinary system in our reconstructive urology program, including those problems present from birth or acquired from trauma or treatment for other diseases.
