Comprehensive Diagnostic Evaluations
Diagnostic evaluations last approximately 2-3 hours and include the following:
- Clinical interviews
- Review of records
- Completion of questionnaires to assess specific strengths and problem areas
Patients are given in-person feedback regarding diagnoses and suggested treatment plans.
Medication Consultation & Longitudinal Management
We offer reproductively-informed medication consultation and longitudinal management to patients with the goal of empowering women and their families to make a well-informed decision regarding treatment interventions.
Medication management will provide evidence-based information about the use of psychiatric medications as well as the effects of untreated or undertreated maternal psychiatric illness in the perinatal period.
If a partnership is reached to utilize medications in the perinatal period or other reproductive transition periods, an additional follow-up appointment (4 weeks from the initial appointment to monitor any medication intervention) with options for short or long term care will be offered.
Psychotherapy
Our program provides “evidence-based” individual therapy services to people experiencing mental health concerns during reproductive transitions or the perinatal period. “Evidence-based” psychotherapies are treatments that have been supported by research to improve mental health symptoms and support wellbeing. This is different from supportive therapy, which often focuses on providing general listening and encouragement.
Our therapists provide and integrate evidence-based practices drawn from cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), behavioral activation (BA), dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), interpersonal psychotherapy (IPT), cognitive processing (CP) and prolonged exposure therapy (PE). Our therapists are trained in developmental psychology and infant mental health. We also offer evidence-based psychotherapy treatments developed to support parents and infants in the perinatal period, including Practical Resources for Effective Postpartum Parenting (PREPP), Strong Roots Perinatal DBT (SR-pDBT), and Mothering from the Inside Out (MIO).
Psychotherapy treatment begins with collaborating with you to understand your mental health history and current needs, and develop a personalized treatment plan to support your goals. We offer education about new or existing diagnoses. As we work together to support your mental health, wellbeing, and relationships, therapists offer coaching to support the use of skills and strategies to manage and ease symptoms of concern and cope with stressors related to reproductive transitions.
