POST-SURGICAL THERAPY EVALUATION

At your first evaluation, your clinician will assess the following:

• Medical history.
• Pain.
• Exercise history.
• Measurement of the limbs.
• Assessment of trunk and breast swelling.
• Presence of any cording of the arm or trunk.
• Range of motion difficulties or pain in the shoulder.
• Strength and weakness in hands, feet, arms, and legs.
• Level of feeling in hands, feet, arms, and legs.
• Development of scar tissue.
• Problems completing everyday activities.

Rehabilitation Focus Areas

• Creating a tailored home exercise program for you.
• Developing self-care strategies to help you remain independent with daily activities.
• Learning the basics of the lymphatic system and how it works:
  • How lymphedema happens.
  • Early warning signs and symptoms.
  • Things you can do to lower your risk.
  • Early treatment of lymphedema.
  • Scar massage.
