Surgeons at the University of Minnesota Medical Center and the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital, perform many surgeries on patients with hand, wrist, and elbow injuries or disorders. Some of these surgeries, such as elbow replacement, may be open surgeries with one larger incision that exposes the entire joint.

Others are arthroscopic procedures that require only very small incisions. Arthroscopic procedures are usually performed on an outpatient basis. Many joint problems, such as cartilage damage to the wrist, can be repaired with arthroscopic procedures, resulting in faster recovery and less pain.

Multidisciplinary teams of physicians from many healthcare specialties, such as orthopaedics, sports medicine, rehabilitation, and physical therapy, are available to help you through the treatment and recovery process.
