Overview

Expertise in Prostate Cancer Surgery

M Health Fairview’s prostate cancer team is highly skilled, and our clinics are nationally recognized. They determine appropriate treatment plans for each patient depending on their individual health and the course of their cancer. In some cases, the appropriate course of treatment may include surgical options, such as:

  • Open radical prostatectomy. This is a traditional surgical approach, with the prostate removed via a large incision in the abdomen.
  • Laparoscopic radical prostatectomy. This is a less-invasive approach, using small incisions and a camera to guide the surgery.
  • Robot-assisted radical prostatectomy. This method is similar to the laparoscopic prostatectomy, but with a robot system assisting for more precision.

These methods vary in terms of recovery time and side effects.
